QUESTION: What are the best niche markets right now? How is the best way to identify a good market?
I know this is contrary to what others teach, but I believe that it is always best (and easiest) to first find a niche that YOU will find interesting or exciting, that you have specialized knowledge or expertise to share, and where you can be positioned as an expert or top authority… instead of going where there is more demand or potential.
Why?
Because it is easier to give up if you aren’t passionate. And things will get tough at some point - you want to be able to stick through it, and being passionate (or at least interested) is the best way to do it.
Of course, not all of your passions automatically become good ‘niches’. You need to study the market and find out if enough people want what you can offer.
The key criteria are:
- Is there a market for what you plan to sell?
- Are there enough potential buyers who already are spending money, or who desperately are eager to?
- Are they willing or able to spend the amount you hope to make?
- Is your target market reachable over the Internet?
- Can you convince them to spend money through this marketing reach?
Unless the answers to ALL these questions is positive, you are taking a risk by moving ahead.
