Can I Rent a Car?
Cool Cars, Rental Cars | Rental Cars
Once you are up on a business or a vacation trip and you need a vehicle to move around freely, there is one thing you have to do: rent a car. However, car rental companies do not just only approve your car rental reservation.
Most of these companies are working within policies that you can never contest. Some would be a credit card check, driver’s license check, or a minimum age requirement. Some even ask for your fingerprints.
But this is not all. There are car rental companies that are would only allow reservation approval if you have passed some or all of the following criteria:
Age matters
18 years old is the legal age in the country. But if you are 18 and wish to rent a car, most car rental companies will still not allow you to use the legality of your age. For most car rental companies, they only approve applicants 25 years old and above. Meanwhile, those who are between the age of 17 and 25 are subject to surcharge. This means, all who apply for car rental at this age will have to pay some extra cash.
Some car rental companies will also limit their higher-class cars to more matured applicants. Usually, most car rental companies would not allow their Audi to be taken out of their garage unless the applicant is 30 years old and above.
Other consideration of age falls at the senior citizen. Some car rental companies decline applicants at the age of 60 or 65 and above.
To know about the age limit and the appropriate car that can be rented, you must check on the individual companies. See how much is the surcharge and the type of vehicle that are allowed for a specific age bracket. Car rental websites or hotline numbers are 2 of the easiest places where you can check on these things. You can also check on local offices near your city.
For business purposes
Since most car rental companies would not approve applicants under a specific age limit, there are those that have arrangements with businesses to allow “under age” driver to use a car rental so long as it is used for business purposes only (while some car rental companies allow business purposes only approvals at the same time disregarding the surcharge). This would work for young professional who will go for a business trip. If you are one of these, it is recommended to consult your company if they have a pre-arranged agreement on that matter.
Clean Driving record
For car rental companies would like to protect their property, it is much expected to deny any applicant who has shown record of driving violations. The worst is driving under the influence. If you have been apprehended and are sure that the case is recorded, then you might have a very slim chance of getting an application for rental approved. Other no-no is driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, leaving the scene of the accident, and driving without license. If you have been apprehended on these cases, then go to other car rental companies that do not check on to these.
Bad Credit history
Car rental companies always guarantee that the applicants have the capacity to pay. If you have a bad credit history, then what is the assurance that you can pay them?
If you think you can somehow pass these, then you can make a deal and head for your vacation or out of town business trip driving comfortably behind a rented car of your choice.
