Information Marketing – A Powerful Online Profit Strategy

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

I love the term – Information Marketing or Info-preneuring.

This concept is the focal point of most of my best-selling products over the past 10 years – including Ezine ANTI Marketing, 5x Profits System and Theme Niche Minisites

So what is Infopreneuring? How does one use this strategy to profit from niche marketing?

Infopreneurs are information marketers, people who identify a demand for specialized information, and then create a product or resource, build a website around hot niche keywords, with keyword optimized relevant content – designed to rank highly on search engines, appeal to a niche audience seeking information on the subject, and create profit processes to make the infopreneur money… automatically.

Think about it. You research demand. You create information products or resources that meet this demand.

Then, you build websites. You get them listed on search engines to get good traffic. You find ways to monetize the traffic.

And sit back while the site brings in steady profits.

Or even create many more cash streams like it!

How does your information generate income?

You could sell access to it. You could display contextual pay per click ads, affiliate product recommendations, or even create and sell related products. You can build lists, broker the traffic to other websites, sell advertising space – the possibilities are unlimited.

So why doesn’t everyone do it?

For many folks – maybe you are one? – the trouble has been identifying hot niches and spending time and effort researching and creating information products around them.

My courses solved this problem by teaching methods I’ve used to become a successful infopreneur. But my solutions were limited as, until recently, they offered only parts of the puzzle – and sometimes, these weren’t interesting enough to clients. I’ve been thinking hard about overcoming this obstacle…

And Came Up With An Exciting New Solution
I’ll let you in on details – soon!

In the meantime, you may find this information useful… In case you’ve been wondering if the time is right yet to become an infopreneur (or if it has already gone)…

E-commerce over the Internet in the U.S. for the third quarter of 2006 amounted to $27.5 BILLION, a 4.5% increase over the 2nd quarter and a 20% growth over last year (Source: U.S. Census Bureau News, Nov.2006). For this study, ecommerce was defined as the value of goods and services sold online.

Annual spending per buyer increased from $457 in 2001 to $784 in 2006.

The trend is reflected around the world. Below are the total worldwide eCommerce Revenues for 2004

North America $3.5 trillion
Asia Pacific $1.6 trillion
Western Europe $1.5 trillion
Latin America $81.8 billion
Rest of World $68.6 billion

Source: Forrester Research

So what are they buying? And more specificaly, for you as an infopreneur, the important question is whether they are buying INFORMATION.

The answer is a resounding “Yes”.

In 2004, more than 14 million Americans made digital content purchases. TowerGroup forecast that by 2009, the market for micropayments would grow to $11.5 billion in revenue.

One area in which micropayments are growing in the U.S. is for online paid content. According to a ComScore study conducted for the Online Publishers Association (OPA), the largest proportion of micropayment expense was news (43.8 percent)

So, you tell me. Is the time right to start doing this? :)

Selling Ebooks – Fantasy or Nightmare?

Each of us is ’selling’ in some form or another every day.  We sell the concept of ‘ourself’ to people we interact with.  We sell our ‘point of view’ to friends, family and colleagues.  We sell our ‘ideas’ to partners and co-workers.  We sell our ‘looks and appeal’ to dates and spouses.

Yet many of us do not think about ourselves as ’salespeople’.  Indeed to most, the term ’salesperson’ carries a negative connotation.  A lot of it is linked to the image we carry of the pushy, obnoxious door-to-door salesman or irritating tele-marketer.

And we carry this attitude of aversion towards selling into our efforts to selling ebooks.  This makes it a nightmare.  And then there are others who are ‘natural’ salespeople – and selling ebooks is a fantasy, an enjoyable ‘dream come true’ for them.

Let’s work at breaking down the barriers in your mind about selling ebooks.

You Are Providing Value

Unless you are selling ebooks that are complete trash, you are providing real value to your buyers.  You are helping make their life better.  You are helping them solve a problem.  You are teaching them to create something, do something, have some benefit.

Isn’t that a good thing?  Why would you feel hesitant or unsure about convincing them to buy your ebook?

You Are Saving Them Time and Trouble

By telling your buyers about an ebook that you have taken the time to either create, or read and review, you are saving them time, trouble and risk.

They don’t have to buy an ebook, read it to see if there is real value in it, and until that point, risk their money.  You have taken the effort to do it – for the buyer, it now becomes risk free.

You Are Acting As Their Advisor or Consultant

This is why you should always think about the readers of any ebook you are selling as your clients, people under your protection.

Look at it like going to your financial advisor, or your doctor or lawyer.  You go to these professionals because they offer you a service that enhances your life, wealth or health.  For that benefit, you gladly pay them money.

Don’t you think people who buy any ebook you are selling will feel the same way too?

You Are Making Money Ethically and Honestly

By selling ebooks, you are earning money – and doing it in an ethical, honest, respectable way.  In the process of growing your wealth, you are helping so many other readers of your ebooks to enjoy a better lifestyle than they had before.

Truly worthwhile wealth-creation has at its core the purpose of enriching others too.  Writing and selling ebooks is one way of executing such a plan.  Being an infopreneur is a real blessing.

Infopreneur Q&A : How to drive traffic?

Q: “How to drive traffic to my great infopreneur products I put out?

One of the most frequently asked questions I get from infopreneurs is how to drive targeted traffic to their websites or blogs.

There are many different ways, and multiple products teaching the best way to use each one. The difficult part is however testing each to find the few that will work best for you.

Broadly, you may group traffic driving systems as paid and free.

Paid traffic comes from pay per click advertising like Google Adwords, paid banner or text ads on other websites, or even directly buying traffic to your website from traffic brokering networks.

However, the best traffic driving systems won’t help you if your website does not convert visitors into subscribers or buyers. So before going the paid route, I’d prefer using free methods to test the site and tweak conversion.

Free traffic can come through social media networks like Digg, StumbleUpon, blogs and other services like Twitter, eHow, Craig’s list and Gather.

For a pretty simple, step-by-step outline of the traffic driving methods that are best suited for infopreneurs, take a look at this guide called “Web Traffic in 30 Days” which many buyers found incredibly helpful.
