Clark Gable was an iconic and legendary American actor. He has been nicknamed “The King of Hollywood.” In 1999, the American Film Institute named Gable seventh among the Greatest Male Stars of All Time.
His most famous role was Rhett Butler in the 1939 epic film Gone with the Wind, in which he starred with Vivien Leigh. Other memorable performances include Peter Warren in It Happened One Night and Fletcher Christian in Mutiny on the Bounty.
He was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor for all three films; he won for It Happened One Night.
