The Personal Budget Planner Has Arrived

Do I need an accountant to create a business budget?

I’m a big fan of accountants, but that’s mostly because I don’t like taking the time to figure things out. When it comes to money, I’d much rather listen and follow the advice of an expert than to try to learn it on my own.

However, when you’re creating a business budget, you may not need an accountant. Here’s how to decide whether or not you want to go it alone.

#1: Do you have a solid understanding about what expenses your business is likely to encounter?

Personal Finance Tip : Live Within Your Means

Living within your means is a liberating way to live your life. It means no debt - debt is one of the most common causes of relationship stress. Living within your means gives you the freedom to save money for special things rather than always scrimping to pay your bills.

Unfortunately, many people don’t live within their means. They live above it, way above it. This happens for many reasons. Maybe they just don’t track their expenses, and purchases are made without thinking. Maybe they’re trying to keep up with their friends and family. Maybe shopping is a misguided form of therapy. Whatever the reason, the end result isn’t a happy one.

If you feel that you could do more to live within your means, here are a few tips to help keep your life on track and your financial status right where it belongs…

How To Create a Monthly Budget Spreadsheet in Microsoft Excel

Want to create a monthly budget but don’t know where to start? By using a simple spreadsheet program like Microsoft Excel you can create a budget in a few minutes.

Here’s how to get it done!

Personal Finance & Budgeting : Some Tips To Help You Reach Your Budget

Budgets are fantastic tools to keep smart business owners from spending too much, but what happens when you have more money than you’ve budgeted for?

What do you do when there is an excess? (What a problem to have!)

Experts advise us to not save the money but to reinvest in your business. How do you decide where to reinvest?

One of the best places you can reinvest your money is in your marketing plan. Amp up your marketing a bit and try a direct mail campaign or a large scale promotion.

Of course, just because you have a little extra money to spend doesn’t mean you want to jump into a new marketing tool without planning. As with any marketing tool, you’ll want to set goals for your plan and test it before you roll it out.

Tips for Balancing Your Checkbook Each Month

Do you balance your checkbook?

Recently I had an eye-opening experience. I was sent an invoice for something I had already paid for. When I contacted the company, the representative asked me what the check number was on the check I sent.

I gulped. I didn’t keep track of my checks, let alone balance my account. It seemed like way too much work. I’m not an accountant, after all.

I had to swallow my pride. “I don’t know,” I said. “I don’t track my checks.” What could she say to that? All I could do was wait for the check that I was sure I wrote to clear the bank, and call them back.
